September has arrived and with it beautiful fall weather.  What glorious temperatures for Labor Day weekend, the traditional end of summer!

At Behnke’s, we are ready with new plants for Fall.  We have Behnke-grown garden mums just starting to bloom. Also this week: the first pansies, fall veggies, herbs, bulbs (plant in fall for spring color) and “Behnke’s Best” Grass Seed and other lawn care products!  Stop by this weekend and see what’s new!

Remember, “Fall is for Planting,” and new shrubs and trees will arrive throughout September.

Come out to Behnke’s Beltsville location Saturday July 18th 2009,  for fantastic sales and lots of fun at our First Community Yard Sale to benefit the Beltsville Lion’s Club!

Coffee & donuts along with hot dogs at lunch, will be sold by the Beltsville Lion’s Club.

Gates open at 8am! Wander though the 40 plus tables of treasures and then take a stroll though the garden center!

Just arrived, you will find an excellent selection of 1 gallon annuals full of color, grown by Behnke’s just for July! Look at our amazing perennial, houseplants and woodies departments where you are sure to find just the right plant for your yard or home.

In June 2008, Behnke’s and many others were part of the amazing 4 day build of the home for the Jackson Family on “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition”.

On July 11th, from 12-5pm, Classic Homes is hosting an “Extreme Makeover” Open House and 1st Anniversary of the build. This is also a fundraising event, and all of the money that is raise will go to Habitat for Humanity. Classic Homes of Maryland wants to celebrate this amazing build, and raise awareness about the issue of homelessness and the struggles of low-income families.

They are requesting that attendees donate $5 upon entry to support this cause. With this donation, attendees will receive a T-shirt, DVD copy of the event, access to all activities, including moon bounce and musical performances, and a personalized tour of the home.
