Don’t miss the fifth annual day-long, FREE celebration and teaching of all things gardening and eating that is Rooting DC.  It’s all happening this Saturday the 18th from 9:45 to 4:3.  Once again it’s being held at Coolidge High School, an easy walk from the Takoma Metro station, and just across the border from Montgomery County.

Here’s what talks and workshops will cover, including some specifically for kids:

  • Cooking and preserving
  • Food justice
  • School gardens
  • Beekeeping
  • Seed-saving
  • Soil basics
  • Four-season farming
  • Making raised beds
  • Composting – worm and “standard”
  • Pests and organic solutions for them
  • Backyard wildlife gardening
  • And more, but here’s the full  agenda.

Though free, it’s a good idea to pre-register right away at www.RootingDC.org because the event fills up fast.
