Herb Day at Behnkes this Saturday
We’re calling it Herbalicious because that’s how much we love herbs, and it’s coming up this Saturday, May 14 from 10 to 4 at our Beltsville location. It’s all FREE.
We’ll be celebrating herbs with great talks, demonstrations, and specials in our herb department. We’ll also be planting custom herb container gardens – you pick out the container and the herbs and we will plant them for you at no extra charge.
10:00 – “Grow it Eat it” Master Gardeners of Prince George’s County talk about “What You should Know About Raising Herbs”.
11:00 – 3:00 Talk/demo on herbs and spices for traditional Caribbean cooking with Doreen Thompson, founder of the National Caribbean-American Food & Foodways, and Dorel Callendar, author of A Caribbean Mom’s Table – Passing on Caribbean Food Memories, which will be on sale.
12:30 Dr. Carl Behnke, certified executive chef and teacher of cooking – and yes, grandson of our founders Albert & Rose Behnke) gives his talk/demonstration “How to select, store, prepare and cook with herbs.“ Tasting is optional but recommended – Yum!
