September Gardenblogger Bloom Day in my Maryland Garden

There’s a long tradition in the gardenblogging world (okay, long by Internet standards) of posting what’s blooming in your garden on the 15th of every month, so Happy Bloom Day, y’all!  Here’s what blooms in my garden in mid-September, and to see what’s blooming in dozens of other gardens around the world, just click here.

The combination on the left may just be my favorite of all time – Beautyberry’s purple berries with the blooms of ‘Autumn Joy’ Sedum.  They’re planted in my curbside garden and get lots of attention this time of year.  And on the right, who doesn’t love Asters in masses?

Knockout roses are having one of their best reblooms right now, and Japanese Anemone are just coming into their long bloom time.

On the left you see some ‘Tutti Fruiti’ Agastache blooming in front of a Miscanthus of unknown variety.  The Agastache is SUCH a hummingbird magnet, I’ve gotta get more of them!  And on the right is Caryopteris, which is sometimes called a shrub and sometimes a perennial because it dies back to the ground in winter.
